“Exercises about how to protect our body and how to escape from abusive acts were very impressive. These skills are quite practical and easy to use in reality. I would like to have more training sessions like this to get more knowledge in order to keep ourselves safe.”

This spring, SCC invited 27 young people from Thang Long School to a training class on reproductive health.
Although Vietnam has committed to the Millennium Development Goals related to reproductive health, sex education is still a sensitive issue for young people due to traditional notions of modesty and privacy.
According to UNFPA Vietnam, this lack of information for young people is directly related to high abortion levels, HIV transmission and domestic violence; and this only adds to the burden for young people living in poverty who are trying to escape this cycle by getting an education.
This year our team of social workers are particularly responding to the extra pressures high-school students face, and we need your help.
As you can see below, our students responded to the life-skill training with inquisitive and practical attitudes, and more sessions are planned to continue this essential work.
