After a long time of preparation, in the second quarter of 2015, SCC was delighted to lay the foundation stones in the construction of a number of kindergartens and primary schools for the school year of 2015-2016.
Thanks to the commitment to support and develop local communities from; Prudential Vietnam and Prudence Foundation, ANZ bank, Credit Suisse (Singapore), Shared Smile (Japan), AEFA (Japan), Mr. Rob Drake-Brockman, Stuart Mills and friends, Murphy Oil Company, REE Corp, and BASF Chemicals Company, we are able to build and renovate 14 schools (majority are kindergartens and primary schools). This totals 40 classrooms and helps children in Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Quang Tri, Ninh Binh province for this upcoming school year.
Together with Vietnamese and foreigner sponsors, there were also contributions from local authorities and residents. For example, Mr. Nguyen Van Thien at Tan Phu hamlet, Tan Binh commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province. Here, a project was set up to replace three downgraded classrooms with brand new ones which was sponsored by Mr. Rob Drake-Brockman. Mr Thien wanted to make contributed from the local community and so donated 500 meters squared of his family’s land to build a new school.

Along with the ground breaking of school construction projects this year, School Building Programme also went on research expeditions to many kindergartens and primary schools which were rundown and unsafe for students. They found that many schools lacked the sufficient number of classrooms for their local community.
Please join us, even with a small contribution, to build a safe and joyful learning environment for children in rural areas of Vietnam.
