Scholarships' Updates

We are seeking sponsors for our young university students!

‘My biggest wish for now is to be able to afford a university degree, so I can realise my dream of becoming an English teacher and helping my family’ says 18-year-old Kim.

Kim has been supported by SCC since 4thgrade. After 9 years in our scholarship scheme, Kim has made us proud and has now graduated from high school and is ready to step into the university life.

When Kim was a child, a serious motorbike accident took away her father’s ability to work, and this has made her mother the family’s only bread-winner. Since then, the family has lived on the very low salary that Kim’s mother makes from helping in a food store, and the family has lived with very limited resources. When we met Kim, she was 10 years old and so fond of school, but due to the family’s financial struggle, her hope of continuing school was about to die out. We promptly started to support the little girl, and every year from 4thto 12thgrade, Kim has been receiving a scholarship from SCC.

Kim reflects on these years: ‘I has always been interested in Accounting and in Pedagogy, however, I thought that my family would never be able to afford fees for accounting school, so I decided to try to apply to Pedagogy University – my mum is really happy with this choice’. ‘My biggest motivation is the aim to become an English teacher for other disadvantaged children.’

In Vietnam, applicants take a general entrance exam whose score determines which university admits them. With the score of 18.5 on the university entrance exam, Kim is very happy to let us know she has passed on HCMC Pedagogy University. And if she receives support from us, Kim will keep her mind on studying in order to pursue her dream.

147 other SCC graduates are applying for university this September, and we need sponsors for the students that are accepted. Please help us to fund young people’s dreams!
