Saigon Summer Ball 2016 – Bring the freedom of opportunity to disadvantaged local children
HCMC, 4 June 2016 - Saigon Children’s Charity successfully staged the 8th Saigon Summer Ball at the Park Hyatt Saigon, including a live auction of highly attractive items given by generous donors, raising more than US$200,000 to help Saigon Children’s Charity provide access to education and training for disadvantaged children in Vietnam.
First organised in 2009, the Saigon Summer Ball is a well-established annual fundraising event for Saigon Children’s Charity, and regarded as one of the premier charity events on the Ho Chi Minh City social calendar. The Summer Ball welcomes almost 300 guests each year, and has now raised over US$800,000 in total to help disadvantaged children get access to education.
Funds were raised this year through ticket sales and by auctioning and raffling more than 100 donated items. Exciting live auction items included a Hermes Birkin handbag donated by Premium Deluxe Design Limited, a pair of Business Class air tickets to any destination in the world on Etihad Airways, a Hong Kong luxury break at the Peninsula Hotel with business class flights from Cathay Pacific Airways, a New Zealand experience including business class flights from Air New Zealand, an All Blacks Rugby Jersey, signed by the World Cup winning squad and generously donated by jersey sponsor AIG, and artwork by artist Pham Hoang Anh donated by Ben Thanh Art & Frame.
This year, in addition to the auction income, the event also raised more than US$26,000 towards building a new school in the Mekong Delta.
Mr Alain Cany, Chairman of Trustees of Saigon Children’s Charity said, “What a wonderful outcome from a great evening. Thank you to all concerned. We celebrate this great achievement and now look forward to doing even better next year for Saigon Children’s Charity’s 25th Anniversary in 2017.”
Mr Mark Fraser, Managing Partner of Frasers Law Company, the Premier Partner of the Ball, and a Trustee of Saigon Children’s Charity, shared: “Frasers Law Company is absolutely delighted to support Saigon Children’s Charity once again with such a meaningful annual event as the Saigon Summer Ball, a night when the community, both local and expatriate, companies and individuals, comes together to give back to society and to assist disadvantaged children. This year, the amount raised has really exceeded our expectations and we would like to thank all those involved for their wonderful generosity and commitment."
VIP guests included the Consuls General of the United Kingdom, France, Australia and New Zealand, and the event also welcomed legendary saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan and his daughter An who performed together.
