The 16th Annual Saigon Cyclo Challenge welcomed 12 teams which included Pizza Hut, Caravelle Saigon, Great Eastern Life Vietnam, SCC Alumni, Celadon City, Guardian, APG, America Indochina Management (AIM), Atlas, Hoang Long – Hoan Vu, Schindler, and Nutrifort Fitness. The teams were a mix of industries and organisations, and ex-champions and rookies. To kick the event off, Nutrifort Fitness brought an active start for the teams by providing a group warm up. Nervous anticipation then filled the venue as the first teams lined up and the starting horn was blown.

And there off……
The Cyclo Challenge was full of fantastic games based on the theme of ‘Experience Life of Disadvantaged Children’, to give the teams a taste of what the children SCC supports have to do in their everyday life. From fetching clean water, climbing monkey bridges, and helping the family, the Saigon Cyclo Challenge has become far more than just a cyclo race.

With variety of unique and interesting tasks in each heat, teams had to work hard together in order to come out on top. The enthusiastic, good-natured teams encountered being covered in water by their competitors, dressing up in box costumes, and even on track crashes! In a close run final between Nutrifort, AIM, Caravelle Saigon and Guardian, it was Guardian who stole the show on the last lap and became the 16th Annual Saigon Cyclo Challenge Champions!

Guardian weren’t the only champions of the day. In the cheerleading competition, SCC was luckily enough to have one of Vietnam’s Next Top Model’s judges, Ha Anh Vu, as the Event Ambassador to judge the proceedings. In a tight fought contest, it was the rookie team, Great Eastern Life Vietnam who pipped 2015 champions, Hoang Long – Hoan Vu, to the post, and became Cheerleading Champions of 2016.

Lastly, Caravelle Saigon showed their artist talents by winning the entertaining Saigon Cyclo Decor Competition, where teams were challenged to not only decorate a cyclo in an impressive and creative way, but be energetic and lively in the annual sponsorship parade. Judges from the Australian, British, and Canadian consulates awarded Caravelle Saigon as champions for the second year running!
