With effect from 1 January 2015 SCC has converted its legal structure in the UK to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in accordance with new UK Charity Act regulations. This change will provide a stronger structure for the charity, and also provide a more secure legal environment for our Trustees.
Although we will continue to refer to ourselves as SCC, from 1 January our legal UK entity will be The Saigon Children’s Charity CIO (SCC CIO) and we will have a new UK Charity Registration No: 1157774. Please note that some donors may need to quote this new number in their tax returns for 2015 onwards. Our Project Office license in Vietnam has also been amended accordingly and our new license number in Vietnam is 21/CNV-VPDA. (For the record our UK charity registration number to 31 Dec 14 is 1015484).
Our Trustees remain the same and all assets, staff and programmes will be transferred formally to SCC CIO along with all contracts and agreements. In addition, our bank accounts will be renamed as Saigon Children’s Charity CIO, but I am delighted to tell you that our bank account numbers will remain the same, and there is therefore no need for any amendment of standing orders or direct debits.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this conversion process may cause. Please rest assured that SCC will continue to focus on improving the lives of children and youngsters in Vietnam, and that our Trustees, staff and programmes remain as before. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Director, Tim Mullett, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Happy New Year to all of you! We wish all the very best for 2015.
