Thousands came out in support of education for disadvantaged children at SCC’s 10th Anniversary Cyclo Challenge at the Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City. A wide variety of Ho Chi Minh City's businesses, schools, consulates and other organisations helped make the day a huge success. Nearly 50 teams participated in the races, and the numerous sponsors, spectators and volunteers all helped make the day truly unforgettable.
For the first time ever the Cyclo Challenge included a line-up of Vietnam’s biggest stars who helped kick off the day by leading the parade with students from SCC’s Thang Long Vocational School. Immediately following the parade was the All-Star race, where the celebrity guests tested their own skills on the Cyclo. Unlike the other racers of the day, the stars didn’t race for trophies or medals; they raced simply to support education for disadvantaged children.
“By joining this event, we just wanted to have fun and hopefully our audience will be both entertained and inspired to see us race. Most importantly, we all came together to do something to help disadvantaged children through activities like Cyclo Challenge,” said comedian Minh Beo, one of Cyclo Challenge’s biggest supporters.
Among the industry races the most formidable racers on the day proved to be FV Hospital, winning the coveted first prize and the prestigious Saigon Cyclo Challenge Trophy. FV Hospital were closely followed by teams from Jardines and the Caravelle Hotel, finishing second and third respectively. It was a day that exceeded all expectations, with spectators and racers alike enjoying the entertainment.
